After a few hours, Mack, McQueen and their racing team arrive at the Los Angeles International Speedway. Before starting the race, Rose McQueen, Lightning's mother, calls him for a private talk.

Rose McQueen: “Are you ready to do a little race?!”
Lightning McQueen: (Speeds Up Engine) It's Now or Never.
(Lightning McQueen's Father Suddenly calls His Wife and Son)
Nathan McQueen: Rose my Dear, Lightning, it's time for the Race.
Rose McQueen: We are going.
Rose McQueen: Come on Son.
(Lightning McQueen and his Mother looked at each other softly, before reluctantly leaving.)

Tex Dinoco: (from the heart) Lightning McQueen!
McQueen turns around and sees Dinoco.
Tex Dinoco: Dinoco has been waiting 11 years for you not to have a sponsor.
Lightning McQueen: (ecstatic) Tex!
Smokey: And I've been waiting 63 years for someone to use a number that's been saved for a long time.
Lightning McQueen: Smokey! You did it?
Smokey: Tex and I have known each other for a long time. But the question is, “Are you ready to go for a little run?!”
Lightning McQueen: (revving engine) Just watch me.
Tex Dinoco: Yeeeeeeeeehaw!
4 Oscaro Forklifts stop and say.
Forklift 1: Come on Lightning McQueen, time for your General Upgrade.
Forklift 2: We Have to Do an Engine Swap, Put Next Gen Parts on You, Put Next Gen Tires, and Put a Next Gen Spoiler on You.
Lightning McQueen and the 4 Forklifts go to the garage to begin the General Upgrade.
Bob Cutlass: Just minutes from the start of this year's Los Angeles International Speedway. I'm Bob Cutlass, joined as always by my broadcast partner, Darrell Cartrip, and Racing Sports Network Reporter Shannon Spokes.
Shannon Spokes: A few weeks ago we were told to allow the entire city of Radiator Springs, [ The screen then shows several closed signs on different buildings as Shannon speaks, like a person changing a sign from "Open" to "Closed", the East Honkers Shopping Mall sign saying "Closed for racing" and Emery ville's sign with a sticker saying "Closed for racing" and at the end of Bob's line the screen shows some trucks and drivers watching the race on TV. ]
Shannon Spokes: And the whole country shut down, to watch what many experts call the Race of the Century.
Bob Cutlass: Wait a minute. I'm getting word that Lightning McQueen may have found a way back into this race. And it has something to do with that old scoundrel, Tex Dinoco!
Enter McQueen, now sporting the iconic Dinoco blue, as well as #51 in memory of Doc, with the silver Next Gen Spoiler Blue Next Gen Tires.
Bob Cutlass: Racing fans! 36th and final in today's race, vying for the Dinoco racing flag, join us in welcoming to Los Angeles one of the greatest racing names of all time, Lightning McQueen!
The crowd goes wild as McQueen enters the pits.
Young McQueen Fan: LIGHTNING MCQUEEN!
Mater, who is now also wearing Dinoco blue, is rooting for McQueen.
Mater: Finish, 51! (screams)
McQueen lets out a laugh.
Bob Cutlass: What a twist, guys! Lightning McQueen, wearing the 51 of his friend and mentor, The Fabulous Hudson Hornet!
Rose McQueen and Nathan McQueen: (excited) It's our son.
Bob Cutlass: So, uh, Shannon, uh, are you thinking twice?
Shannon Spokes: No! Shannon Spokes' Heart is Never Deceived. Sorry to say it, but it takes a lot more than new paint to win a race.
McQueen heads to the back of the group, but not before having one last conversation with Storm.
Jackson Storm: Well, it's complete. You are as slow as him and now you even look like him. Will you run like the old man too?
Doc Hudson: Listen to me now Kid, as a Racer, don't listen to him, You don't listen to Jackson, just your crew chief.
Lightning McQueen: Okay Doc.
As soon as McQueen settles into his place, he sees Carrera.
Sally Carrera: Hey, do me a favor, show them who's boss in the Piston Cup!
