- Ayrton Senna is based off the real Ayrton Senna, a Brazilian racing driver who raced in Formula One. He tragically died as a result of an accident while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.
- The Nacional brand is better known as main sponsor of Ayrton Senna during all his racing career in Formula One (1984-1994).
- Following the release of Cars 3 in Brazil, Disney Pixar honored the late Ayrton Senna with the creation of a special miniature to the Ayrton Senna Institute to deliver the customized miniature with the iconic colors of the Brazilian pilot’s helmet. He was regarded as as one of the three greatest icons of Brazilian motorsport, along with Rubens Barrichello and Emerson Fittipaldi.[1][2]
- Interestingly, the character is depicted as a 2017 Next-Gen racer, despite the real Ayrton Senna competing in Formula One from 1984 to 1994.
