- "I did not believe this place was real, Senhor Mater."
- —Carla Veloso, ”Cars 2: The Video Game”
Carla Veloso is a Brazilian race car, who takes part of the World Grand Prix.
History[]
Cars 2[]

Carla racing in Tokyo
In Cars 2, Carla is a Brazilian race car who competes as the only female racer (similar to Misti Motorkrass), the #8, for the World Grand Prix. She appeared at the Tokyo party where she and the other racers reacted in shock to mater causing a scene, she is seen in all three races and also in the one at Radiator Springs. She finished third in the Tokyo race, and was also seen in the Porto Corsa race in the third position. However, during the Porto Corsa race, Carla's engine blew out, due to Grem aiming the Lemons' modified WGP Camera at her. In London she was seen in the back in 8th place. After passing through the Admiralty Arch she was seen in 9th place, in front of Raoul ÇaRoule and Rip Clutchgoneski. She was seen at the Radiator Springs Grand Prix race, talking with Shu Todoroki. During the race she was seen in 3rd place like usual however her position dropped to 4th due to Mater passing everyone with his rockets.
Cars 2: The Video Game[]

In Cars 2: The Video Game, Carla is a playable character, unlocked once access to Clearance Level 2 is granted. She is a medium weight, and has more speed than she does power.
In the Story Mode of the game, she is trained in spy missions by Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell at C.H.R.O.M.E., along with doing races with her friends. In "Lightning the Mood" before the first race in Radiator Springs, Mater welcomes Carla, Jeff and your player (Lightning McQueen if you're playing as Mater, Jeff or her), telling them that they should have the right speed to outrun Frank. Wondering who Frank is, Carla notes him to sound "strong and handsome", to which Mater admits that she "got the strong part right". Finally, everyone completes all the simulations, although Francesco is not able to master all the missions.
Disney Infinity[]
In Disney Infinity, Carla can be seen as an opponent during races in the Cars Play Set. In the storyline, Luigi invites her to a race consisting of Radiator Springs' townsfolk, Francesco, Todoroki, Chick Hicks and The King. Occasionally, she is one of the opponents in the regular and battle races that the player takes part in.
While she is in the play set itself, she is not available in the Toy Box, as she is not in the category of cast member toys. This also marks her only appearance in the series, apart from a picture seen in Ramone's House of Body Art.
Cars: Fast as Lightning[]

Carla appears as a playable character in Cars: Fast as Lightning, unlocked by earning all of her stickers, which can be obtained by completing all of Miguel Camino's races. She has four additional paint jobs, Carnaval, Quente, ICE and Neon Carla, all of which can be unlocked by completing practice races at Carla's Track, obtaining all of their corresponding stickers. She has her own home, Carla's Pit, which is also where she parks in the player's town.
Other appearances[]
In A Friend in Trouble, Carla and her team have noticed that their equipment has gone missing, so she and Lightning team up to find them. They find the objects, but also receive help from other competitors and teams.
General information[]
Model[]
CARS 2 - Carla Veloso
According to Meet the Cars, Carla is a fictional car known as a 2009 Le Motor Prototype B12 Racer. Jay Shuster, the character art director for Cars 2, stated in a fan Q&A that her design was a composite of many different LMP racecars, specifically noting influences from the 2006 Audi R10 TDI and 2009 Audi R15 TDI.
Livery[]
Carla is a sequin-covered Le Mans Prototype painted green and blue with various green, yellow, and blue patterns. She features a large blue spoiler sporting the World Grand Prix logo and a blue splitter at the front, which helps create downforce. She has blue rims, as well as grey and orange headlights. The three dots on her sides are leader lights, often seen on endurance race cars. Her roof features an air intake.
Personality and traits[]
Carla is a vibrant, confident, and friendly competitor who loves dancing at the Brazilian Car-nival, but loves racing even more. In Cars 2: The Video Game, it is revealed that she can play dirty when the player side bashes her into others.
Creation and development[]

Carla's concept art
According to concept art, deleted race scenes and an early poster for Cars 2, Carla was first designed as a German LMP racecar called Marlena Wolfsburg. In an early concept design of the World Grand Prix Racers, she featured a silver and red paint job reminiscent of the 2009 Audi R15 TDI, despite her being a closed-top Le Mans Prototype. Her design was later changed to a purple paint job, as shown in a deleted race scene in Germany, before she ended up as a Brazilian character with a green and blue color scheme. There was also a point in development where she was called Sonia Santana before she was renamed as Carla Veloso.
Jay Shuster, the film's character art director, stated in a fan Q&A that Carla's design drew inspiration from several LMP cars, some of which he confirmed to be the Audi R10 TDI and the Audi R15 TDI. Shuster emphasized that Carla underwent multiple redesigns to achieve a more "voluptuous and curvaceous" shape, aiming to create a softer and more feminine look for the character. Additionally, while he also noted that the Drayson Lola B09/60 was somewhat familiar, he has to check his backup drive to confirm if it was used for reference.

- Carla and the other WGP racers, except for Jeff Gorvette, do not appear in "Cars 3" or "Cars On The Road" Season 1 due to the focus on new characters and storylines. However, they were likely busy with other activities during the events of Cars 3 and Cars on the Road Season 1.
