Trivia[]
- In real-life, the term "Handmade" refers to made by someone using their hands rather than by using a machine. This is an in-joke, as it implies Lightning McQueen was built by an actual person or more despite them not existing in the Cars universe. They should've car-ified it as "Tiremade" instead.
- Lightning McQueen's make and model suggests that he is a "One-of-a-kind Race Car", however Luke Skywalker and several other racers that appeared in The Official Magazine also share the same design.
- The racers from The Official Magazine is also the only time the same model of different separate characters are seen.
- Lightning McQueen's design is inspired by NASCAR Generation 4 cars; however, he has a curvaceous body like that of the Ford GT40 and Dodge Viper. His exhaust pipes come from the 1970s Dodge Charger, but with four (two on each side) instead of two on one side or one on both sides. His body also draws cues from the design of the Chevrolet Corvette along with cab elements from a Porsche 964.
- The 2017 edition of Meet the Cars updated and refers to Lightning McQueen's model name to "2006 Custom-Built Piston Cup Racer."
