Missile Launchers (known as Rockets, Tracking Rockets and First Strike Rockets in Cars 3: Driven to Win) are shooters that launch out missiles. They are weapons in Cars 2: The Video Game and Cars 3: Driven to Win.
Appearances[]
Cars 2: The Video Game[]
Missile Launchers debut in Cars 2: The Video Game as one of the many weapons players can use and are available in every mode except race. It is obtained either from orange pickups or randomly from green ones, which also have a chance of giving any other weapon available. Once obtained, missiles can be fired forwards or backwards and will travel in a straight line, roughly following gentle hills, until they collide with something at which point they will explode, launching other racers into the air and instantly defeating most enemies.
A stronger variant of missile launchers known as Troika Missiles can also be obtained. Troika missiles function identically to normal missile launchers but contain extra ammunition, allowing them to be fired three times before the weapon is depleted.
Cars 3: Driven To Win[]
Missile launchers, now referred to as rockets, return in the sequel game Cars 3: Driven to Win. Normal rockets and triple rockets function identically to missiles and troika missiles from the last game, albeit with a slightly different appearance.
This game also adds two new rocket variants. Tracking rockets replace the skate jack from the last game and lock on to the opponent directly ahead of the user before tracking them and exploding on contact. First strike rockets similarly replace the satellite blitz weapon with nearly identical functionality. The three rocket types can be easily distinguished by color - normal and triple rockets are green, tracking rockets are red, and first strike rockets are purple.
