History[]
Cars 2[]
In Cars 2, Nigel competed in all three races of the World Grand Prix, and at the Radiator Springs Grand Prix. His first appearance was at the Tokyo welcome party, shocked with the other World Grand Prix racers as they watch Mater drinking from the fountain after he eats a lot of wasabi. The dirt section during the Tokyo race was one of Nigel's best performances. He came in sixth place at the end of the race. In that race, his pit was at the end of the pit row, with Miguel Camino's pit on the left. In the Porto Corsa race, Nigel was following Carla Veloso to the third position. But then he blew up, due to the electromagnetic pulse generator used by the Lemons.
He is the second car to have his motor exploded by the lemons' electromagnetic pulse cannon, and the fifth car in general to be hit by the pulse. However, he got fixed and was able to race in London. During the final race, Nigel was between sixth and eighth position. In that race, his pit was in between those of Lightning McQueen and Francesco Bernoulli. He later raced in the Radiator Springs Grand Prix was seen in the 8th position during the race.

Story Mode[]
In Cars 2: The Video Game (DS/3DS), Nigel Gearsley appears as a competitor in the World Grand Prix. He is first mentioned after the Japan WGP event where he unfortunately suffered from unexpected engine problems forcing him out of the race. Despite this, he reappears as an opponent in the France and Germany WGP events.
Nigel later reappears in the England Challenge event. Here he greets Lightning formally by calling him Mr. Lightning McQueen. He then asks Lightning if he personally knew the Famous Hudson Hornet because of what Raoul said. When McQueen confirms this, he reveals that he was a huge fan of him and that Lightning must come and race with his mates. Lightning agrees, initiating the race. Gearsley then appears as an opponent in the England WGP and Welcome Home events.
C.H.R.O.M.E Mode[]
Nigel Gearsley appears as a playable character in C.H.R.O.M.E once the England Challenge event is completed in Story Mode. He can appear as an opponent in the single race mode and is also the default rival in the England Rivalry Races when Quick Play is turned on. He also appears as an opponent in the Royal Cup where he is considered the slow opponent in all races. Depending on the player's choice of character, he can potentially appear as an extra opponent in the Dust Cup, the Speed Cup, the City Cup, and the Euro Cup. He is equipped with the Jump ability, which means he will have the same speed on dirt and asphalt.
Nigel also has 2 additional themes which are his Union Jack and Tartan. His Union Jack appearance can be unlocked by entering the spy code 64321 on the DS or by winning any England Circuit Race in Single Race Mode on 3DS. His Tartan appearance can be unlocked by winning any England Rivalry Race in Single Race Mode.
Cars: Fast as Lightning[]
While Nigel doesn't appear in Cars: Fast as Lightning, he was planned to be a playable character. He was most likely dropped due to copyright issues or time constraints.

General information[]
Livery[]
Nigel is painted dark green, with a black grille surrounded by yellow lining. He has two gray headlights surrounded by a light green swirl design, which is also depicted over his rear wheels. On his trunk, he has a black spoiler with the World Grand Prix logo. He has tires with chrome rims, and a skinny antenna erupting out of his roof.
Model[]
Nigel, according to Meet the Cars, is a 2008 Aston Martin DBR9 representing the GTS1 (GT1) class along with Lewis Hamilton. He is a reference to the Aston Martin DBR9 GT1 that won at the 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans. With Jeff Gorvette, Nigel is the only WGP racer to be a precise model of one particular car, and therefore, to not be a Pixar in-house design. Indeed, while some other racers, like Lewis Hamilton, Shu Todoroki, and Raoul ÇaRoule have a clear main inspiration, they aren't exact copies of the car, which is why their vehicle types aren't named after the same car although the year they were built alludes to their real cars.
He is powered by a 6.0 liter V-12 with 600 HP. He can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 mph.
Occupation[]
Nigel is a famous English race car, competing in their championship. He was recruited for the World Grand Prix in 2011, where he placed very well in, but also received some major damage in a huge wreck involving a long curved bridge and 6 other racers.
