- "And my name is not Chuck!"
- —Not Chuck, Cars
Not Chuck, wanted to be rather referred as Charles,[1] is a small forklift who worked on Lightning McQueen's pit team and (possibly) formerly Racer 01 before the latter retired, before he and the other pitties quit as a result of McQueen's disagreeable attitude.
History[]
The Rookie[]
In The Rookie that takes place before Cars, Mcqueen is introduced to his team of his new sponsor Rust-eze after he and Mack enter the Beachside Speedway, and Dusty calls one of the pitties ''Chuck'' and Mcqueen greets the latter. Later on when Mcqueen gets in the race, Not Chuck and his colleagues are having a difficult time working with Mcqueen such as him speeding away from his pit stop when they haven't finished tightening the lug nuts of his wheels yet. When Mcqueen desperately returns to his pitstop in the need of one, his pit crew refuses to give him one until Lightning admits that he needs them, so they get him up and ready to get back in the race.
Cars[]
In Cars, Not Chuck first appears when McQueen is making a pit stop at the Motor Speedway of the South. McQueen declines getting tires and orders the crew to only give him gas before he drives back onto the track. Not Chuck, however, angrily tells him that he needs tires, to which McQueen doesn't listen. However, this causes him to burst his rear tires. After McQueen, The King and Chick Hicks tie in first place, Not Chuck and the pit crew are seen changing McQueen's tires while he is being interviewed by Kori Turbowitz. He then tells Not Chuck to get out of the way of a cameraman who is trying to get a view of McQueen's bolt sticker on his TV camera. Not Chuck becomes fed up with McQueen's snobbish attitude, and he and the rest of his team quit, with one last remark: "We quit, Mr. One Man Show!" and yelling “And my name is not Chuck!” after McQueen calls him Chuck. Not Chuck doesn't appear in the film again, it's unknown what became of Not Chuck and his colleagues after leaving McQueen's team, although they probably either retired, or found a new job.
Cars: Race-O-Rama[]
In Cars: Race-O-Rama, Not Chuck is an unlockable playable character that can be used Guido Kart races, a game mode that is for microcars and pitties only. Not Chuck is still wearing his Rust-eze paint job and decals, despite quitting McQueen's team four years prior (though it’s possible that he still works for Rust-eze and only quit the racing team).
General information[]
Physical description[]
Not Chuck has been depicted as a stout, wide 2003 Nemomatic forklift in all of his appearances. He is painted almost entirely red, some notable exceptions being the number 95 located on his door and cap, as well as his lightning bolt design on each side of his cap. Attached to his front are grey forklift arms, useful for lifting and carrying items.
Personality and traits[]
He has been portrayed with a very grouchy persona, often shouting cranky remarks at other racers in Cars: Race-O-Rama. One of his pet peeves is when people call him by the wrong name, specifically "Chuck".
It's highly likely the reason why he is the above due to Mcqueen's snobby attitude and arrogance towards him and everyone else.

Cars: Character Encyclopedia[]

Trivia[]
- Him being called ‘Chuck’ is because of McQueen’s old crew chief Chuck who he found disagreeable.
- According to Mattel's Die-cast Character Asst Deco Approval of Not Chuck, his actual name is "Tough Guy".
- Intentional or not, he is very similar to other characters who are red and have anger issues like the chocolate mascot Red from the m&m's series, and the character of the same latter name from Larva (despite Cars predating the latter), they even have similar voices, also Red (from Larva) also has some orangish yellow on his body which Not Chuck does have, and both of them have similar faces and the same eye color, their voices even sound similar to eachother when they get angry.
- On his original release, he has the correct eye color while his packaging incorrectly depicts him with blue eyes. This would be switched the other way around for his 2015 release.
- This error was fixed in his 2021 release with the 2021 Piston Cup pack.
- On his 2015 re-release, he has a molded gun on one of his forks which none of the other pitties have. It would be reused for his release in the 2021 Piston Cup pack.
- Despite being shown in the 2009 collectors guide for the Race-O-Rama cars diecast line, he was never released that year.
- He was however, released in the Race-O-Rama hauler set with Lightning McQueen and Mack without any of the accesories, the set would be reused for the Piston Cup Nights series a year later, but it became the only team not to receive a pit crew set, due to McQueen not having a crew chief.
- In Brazilian Portuguese versions of the movie, he was named Zé. The name "Zé" is commonly used by Brazilians to refer an unknown person.
- In Russian versions of the movie, he was named Газик (Gazik) after the GAZ-67 car commonly called gazik.
- In Italian versions of the movie, he was named "Ciccio" meaning "little fat guy" although this nickname is used to call people who don't have a name.
- This was the name for Ciccio in Pixar's 2021 film Luca which is set in Italy.
- In Italian versions of the movie, he was named "Ciccio" meaning "little fat guy" although this nickname is used to call people who don't have a name.
- He is the only pitty of McQueen's original team to ever be released as a diecast.
- In fact, there is somewhat of a non-crossover going on with the pitty diecast releases with Rusteze and HTB, where Rusteze only has the short-styled pitty being only Not Chuck himself released and not the tall and wide ones. whereas it's the over way around for HTB where the short pitty (Chick Hicks Pit Guy) seen in the film alongside Race-O-Rama has been excluded from a diecast release and only had the tall and wide ones released.
- Despite being one of the 3 Piston Cup pitties to have the most releases, alongside Luke Pettlework and Bruiser Bukowski, his die-cast is a bit rare and hard to obtain.
- Even the Not Chuck etc. left the team, three unidentified pitties similar-looking to the original team appear in a magazine (see above) taking place after Cars. It's unknown if the story is canon or not.
