Trivia[]

  • The Pacific Flyer Railroad is based on the Union Pacific Railroad, another freight-hauling railroad in the United States that operates 8,300 locomotives over 32,200 mile (51,800 km) railroad-highway routes in 23 U.S. states west of Chicago and New Orleans.
    • However, when Lightning McQueen was passing through Route 66, in real life, the Burling Northern Santa Fe Railroad traverses the route, known as the Southern Transcon between Los Angeles and Chicago. Historically, in real life, the Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe Railroad passed through this route and hauled passenger trains until 1971, when Amtrak took over all passenger service, and continued operating freight trains. This could mean that the Pacific Flyer Railroad would also be based on the BNSF Railroad.
