"Just wanna let you know, Ramirez is moving up toward you."
Ray Reverham, Cars 3

Ray Reverham is a pickup truck who coached the IGNTR racing team in the Piston Cup Racing Series. He is Jackson Storm's crew chief.[1]

History[]

Ray attends all of Jackson Storm's Piston Cup races in Cars 3. In addition to coaching Storm throughout his races, Ray also helps him train. When Storm is practicing in the high-tech simulator, Ray decides to put Lightning McQueen's likeness into the display to give him some "real competition," though they both laugh at the idea that McQueen could actually be a threat.

At the Florida 500, Ray and Storm are both caught off guard when Cruz Ramirez replaces McQueen halfway through the race. When Ramirez starts catching up to Storm's lead, Ray angrily warns Storm of her quickly rising position.

Physical description[]

Ray Reverham is a Haulital Pickup, slightly resembling a shorter and more modernized 1992-1996 Ford F-Series (OBS; and also possibly GMC Syclone) with an extra shorter bed (implies F-150), having a more generic version of the 2008-2010 Super Duty front (as well as 2008+ E-Series vans; prior to Cars 3, only Kitt Lift (in artwork) had a similar front design, the rear end of a 2007-2013 Toyota Tundra minus the "step-design" lower dip and having amber orange turn signals. The wheels are identical to that of Kevin Ryvan (a Range Rover), which resemble that of the 2013-2018 (2019–2024 Classic) Ram 1500 Tradesman and SLT trims. The front structure is also similar to the 2014-2018 GMC Sierra as well. The door handles are loosely based on the GMT400 line of GM trucks and SUVs. The wheel wells resemble that of a 2008+ Ford F-450/F-550 Super Duty and 2011+ RAM 4500/5500's fender flares, as they extend through the front bumper, despite Ray supposedly being a half-ton truck.

He is painted black and gray, with the number 20 painted on his doors, surrounded by blue and black lines that transition into one another. He has a chrome outer with black inner grille and silver aluminum wheels.

Trivia[]

  • Since Cars 3 was revealed in 2015 and released in 2017, it can be assumed that his model year, while not official, might be 2016.
  • Back in mid-late 2022, he was formerly an unnamed model unofficially known as the "Haulital Flatbed".
  • If you look closely or had not noticed, some four-door (crew cab) variants of his model can be seen, whether sporting a bed cap (camper) or not. Currently, no officially named characters have used this model, unfortunately (as of now), nor die-cast releases (the closest yet is monster truck Ivy from Cars on the Road). None also have an official model name.
  • His name is a pun on his voice actor's name, Ray Evernham, who also served as a story consultant to the filmmakers during the development of Cars 3.
  • In the Danish version, he is named "Henning Lykkehjul", who is named after Henrik Lykkegaard, who was performing.
  • As said above, the inner part of his "mustache grille" is very similar to Chick Hicks' design.
