- This article is about Mater's family tradition. For the event in Cars: The Videogame, see Rustbucket Race-O-Rama.
The Rustbucket is a demolition derby race held every year in Ornament Valley at the Rustbucket Stadium. It is Mater's family tradition.
History[]
Cars: The Videogame[]
In Cars: The Videogame, Lightning McQueen was driving through Ornament Valley, he saw Mater in front of the Rustbucket Stadium continuously banging into a board. He drives up to him, wondering what he was doing. Mater says that he's practicing for the Rustbucket Race-O-Rama, a family tradition. Mater wins the race and earns a boost tank as a prize.
Cars: Mater-National Championship[]
In Cars: Mater-National Championship, after Stadium Race 1, Lightning reminds Mater of the English race car that he will be racing with in the Rustbucket. Mater was excited for it, until he realized that he wasn't ready, so he drove away to go practice. After practicing, he was surprised to see none of his cousins practicing for the Rustbucket. Tommy Joe explains that they have been watching Emma the for the last hour. When she looks at Mater, he asks his cousins to act natural and pretend to look like they are practicing, and Emma just laughs.
Mater and his cousins, along with Fred, have three races in the Rustbucket Stadium to qualify to the Rustbucket final, while Emma only competes in the final race. After Mater wins the Rustbucket, he gives Emma a tour of Radiator Springs.
