Rusty Cornfuel is a race car that races for the Tow Cap team in the Piston Cup Racing Series. He is a Brawny Motor Co. Spark GT that is painted purple and white, with the number 4 painted on his roof and doors. The Tow Cap logo is printed on his hood, as well as his trunk has it.

Lightning McQueen passes Rusty and Floyd Mulvihill.

In Cars, Rusty is one of the thirty-six competitors at the Motor Speedway of the South against the likes of Lightning McQueen, The King, Chick Hicks and many others. He is first seen racing alongside Floyd Mulvihill, when Lightning McQueen passes him by using the wall to squeeze through the gap between it and Floyd. Later in the film, Rusty is involved in a huge accident caused by Chick Hicks, in which he is scene colliding with Kevin Shiftright, James Cleanair, Davey Apex, Sage VanDerSpin and Crusty Rotor. But does not suffer from any major damage, and is still able to continue racing, but does not win to a three-way tie between Lightning McQueen, Chick Hicks, and The King.

Between Cars and Cars 3[]

Between the events of Cars and Cars 3, Rusty retired, and was replaced by Jack DePost.

The World of Cars Online[]

In The World of Cars Online, Rusty can be found as one of the opposing competitors the player faced at the Big Heartland Speedway, along with Floyd Mulvihill and Ruby "Easy" Oaks.

  • Meet the Cars incorrectly wrote his model number as Axxelo Fission in the 2017 version, His actual model is a Brawny Motor Co. Spark GT.
  • In Cars: The Videogame, there is another Tow Cap racer known as Clarkson, with the number 54.
  • Rusty's racing number, 4, has the second lowest value out of any Piston Cup racer in the Cars series, only beaten by Jimmy Cables and Flip Dover, both with number 00.
  • In the scene of crash being viewed from the hood of Brush Curber, Cornfuel hits him in the rear end causing him to turn sideways, the very next scene Cornfuel is seen driving straight.
  • Rusty is the only non speaking Cars 1 racer with a long spoiler.
  • In the movie and on his artwork, he has purple rims, but on his diecast, he has black rims.
