Tyler Gremlin, also known as Tyler Trunklis, is a member of the Gremlin family in Cars 2. He assists his bosses, Professor Zündapp and Miles Axelrod in various evil schemes. Tyler is an AMC Gremlin that is painted red, with black "hockey stripes" on his doors (though they are not seen in the film), similar to other Gremlins in the film. He has a black grille and grey rims, and a license plate that reads "WREKD".

History[]

Past[]

Tyler was bullied at school for his ridiculous graphics and lack of horsepower, so it wasn't surprising that his personality became a bit menacing over time. Tyler was driving without his headlights after dark or chain the frame of a police car to a lamppost. Afte that, he became so irritable that if a car honked, he would get run over. Most cars learned to yield to him. If a car tried to challenge him, they had to run away because he always responded with the same force... like a hockey stick.

Cars 2[]

In Cars 2, Tyler is first seen watching Rod "Torque" Redline being the first victim of the electromagnetic pulse camera with many other lemons. Tyler was the one who fuelled Rod Redline with a tank of Allinol before his death.

Afterwards, Tyler is one of the many lemons that hunts down Mater in the streets of Tokyo after discovering he was in the pit garage for Lightning McQueen.

Later, Finn McMissile shows up in Lightning McQueen's pit to stop Acer and Petey Pacer from entering and attacking Mater. After Finn sprays them with foam from a fire extinguisher and starts to flee, a large number of lemons are sent after him. Tyler Gremlin is driving quietly down the road in search of Mater, but Finn uses his hook to knock over a vending machine in front of Tyler, which causes Han to wake up and suspect that Tyler was the culprit, so he and two others proceed to yell at him. It is unknown what happened to him afterwards, though it is possible that Han and his other two friends made him pay for the destruction of their vending machine.

Cars 2: The Video Game[]

In Cars 2: The Video Game, Tyler Gremlin appears in the intro with Fred, Petey with other Hugos and Professor Z with a kidnapped Finn McMissile, later Mater was sent to rescue Finn and Finn pushes them, later Tyler with Grem and Acer and other lemons exploded.

Tyler appears in Survival Mode without his bumper, where the player needs to destroy him and steal his energy, which will increase the power of their Shield to survive Professor Z's attack. He is not playable, but has been made playable by use of Mods.

Cars 2: The Video Game (DS/NDS)[]

Story Mode[]

In the NDS version of Cars 2: The Video Game, at the Oil Rig Arena, if Tyler falls into the ocean, he will have Acer's screaming voice.

General information[]

Personality[]

Due to growing up being ruthlessly picked on and mistreated by his peers, Tyler developed a mean streak a mile wide. He is so spiteful and short tempered that most other cars and other vehicles give him a wide birth to avoid his rancorous wrath.

Like all the other Lemons, Tyler Gremlin is a cold-hearted terrorist who would do anything for a quick buck. Apparently, he is very homicidal because he was involved in the death of Rod "Torque" Redline.

He is also very sadistic for attempting to abduct Mater until Hans and two other vehicles yelled at him.

Physical appearence[]

Weaponry and Gadgets[]

In Cars 2: The Video Game, Tyler Gremlin uses two weapons:

  • Energy Leech: In the Survival Mode, he uses the Energy Leech when the player loses his boost.
  • Missile Launcher: He uses the Missile Launcher to fire and hurt the player.

Bio[]

  • While other boys in school had cool racing stripes, Tyler was stuck with hockey-stick stripes, and they were cheap decals to boot. Picked on in school for his goofy graphics and lack of horse power, it came as no shock that his personality got a bit menacing as time went on. The mischievous Tyler would drive without his headlights on after the dark, or chain a police officer's chassis to a lamppost. He became so salty that if any car so much as tooted their horn they would get T-boned. Most cars learned to yield to him. If a car tried to stand up to him, they'd have to hit-and-run because he always came back swinging ... just like a hockey stick.

Trivia[]

  • Diecast product listings refer to him as "Tyler Trunklis", implying that this was his name in the initial version of the film. It was likely changed so that every Lemon of the same family would share the same last name, the only exceptions being Don Crumlin, and Stefan Gremsky.
  • On the packaging for his die-cast version, his eyes are brown, but on the actual toy, they're blue-green.
  • Tyler's bio mentions how he was picked on in school for his hockey stripe design, however, Tyler does not have any hockey stripe design on his bodywork in the movie. It is possible that he removed them to avoid being picked on in school again.
